CLASSICAL AND MODERN MUSIC COURSES
Courses are designed for every level of study and follow the growth of the student’s musical abilities and higher levels of competence, including: sight reading and ear training, composition, collaboration with other musicians, improvement of technical and expressive skills.
The courses provide individual instruction for the student’s major performance medium. During the hour-long lessons our instructors help each student learn and refine the techniques associated with their instrument, voice or particular focus.
Course credits are easily earned through university study abroad programs, which help identify courses that meet university guidelines. Typically, study of voice or instruments are worth 2 credits hours per semester; academic courses, 3 credits hour per semester. Private and ensemble lessons normaly meet once a week for 1 hour; academic classes meet twice a week for 1 ½ hours per meeting.
Credits are also approved at the discretion of individual music departments or schools. Students are encouraged to discuss credit transfer options with their professional school advisor and appropriate study abroad advisor.
