MARIANO DI NUNZIO – TRUMPET

Di Nunzio Mariano born in Naples on 27/07/1969 – Trumpet player, composer, arranger and teacher

He graduated in trumpet in 1988 at the Conservatory of S. Pietro a Majella in Naples.

From 1988 to 1990 he participated as a musician in various theatrical works, collaborating with various actors, directors and Neapolitan musicians including Antonio Casagrande, Eugenio Bennato, Sergio Solli, Bruno Colella, Carlo Buccirosso, Maurizio Casagrande and others.

From 1992-1994 participates in the television broadcast of R.A.I. “Naples before and after” with the permanent Orchestra of the Neapolitan song “Giuseppe Anepeta”.

In 1992 he began his professional activity in the jazz field winning some scholarships issued by the EEC for the courses of high Professional Qualification for Jazz musicians at the Siena Jazz Association “National Academy of Jazz”. He took part in the most important festivals on the national territory including: Siena Jazz, Clusone jazz, Roccella jonica, Pescara jazz, Barga jazz, jazz festival in Florence and many others. He has played with Italian and foreign musicians: (B. Tommaso, G. Gazzani, R. De Simone, P. Fresu, M. Tamburini, Caliri, M. Sannini, M. Raja, M. Grossi, P. Tonolo, D. Fusi, F. Castri, G. Trovesi, R. Migliardi, Fioravanti, G. Schiaffini, E. Colombo, R. Fassi, and many others from the Italian scene; among the foreigners J. Newton, P. Erskine, J. Taylor, P. Daniellson, K. Wheeler) both in small formation and in orchestra.

From 1992 to 1997 he played with the Italian Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by the Masters Bruno Tommaso, Giancarlo Gazzani, Mario Raja and the American flutist James Newton. With the same orchestra performed a tour with the trio of Peter Erskine (John Taylor and Palle Daniellson), participating in some of the most important musical events on the national territory.

In 1996 he took part of the “Amedia Ætas” Orchestra of Maestro Roberto De Simone

In 1997 he composed the original music for the theatrical comedy “Miles Gloriosus” by Plauto, directed by Maria C. Massari.

He has about 9 CDs of which 6 in his name.

He took part as a teacher during workshops:

In 1999 he teaches the “Training Course for Composition and Performance of Music for the Theater

(TUSCANY REGION – EEC – SIENA).

2007 -08 -ACCADEMIA UNIKA Teacher for the 1st and 2nd edition of the “Ba.Si. Jazz Workshops “taking care of the teaching programs of the following subjects: jazz trumpet, improvisation techniques for singers and winds, ensemble music, music theory and ear training.

He currently lives in Siena and plays concerts as a leader of sound projects and as a sideman with various training.

He teaches jazz trumpet, ensemble music and ear training at the “PRE – ACCADEMIC COURSES”. He is a teacher of ear training and ensemble music at the S.J.U. “SIENA JAZZ UNIVERSITY” (1st level Academic Diploma) at the Siena Jazz Association, National Academy of Jazz.
